Question

First off I think its interesting that Kesler has a kid
Just saying...not judging...just saying
Thought a player that young and with skill developing like it is that he might want to play the field awhile longer

Anyway

Nemchinov sent me a text the other night with the above picture and needed me to guess who that was.

First off the guy looks tiny in that photo and it is supposed to be Shane Doan. Apparently he cut his hair. There is no way that I would ever be able to tell Shane Doan without long hair, sunglasses and a hat on....no way
Whats also crazy is that I have stock photos of Doan already in my computer at work.

The 2 man had a great roller skate on Saturday...Truly fun

The way it was supposed to be

What you missed last night while you were debating whether this past trade deadline was the worst or worstest

There's no point in analyzing any of the deals. None were game-changers, only game adjusters.

Canucks beat the Red Wings, 6-3: I don;t think you can really consider Burrows and Kesler "grind guys," but on Vancouver, they kind of are. And when they get going, the Canucks are hard to beat. Kesler scored a sweet goal, splitting the D and stuffing the puck in 5-hole. Burrows scored by going to the net and tipping a great feed from one of the Sedins. Also, Kyle Wellwood sniped a high glove breakaway goal and didnt celebrate. The Wings first goal of the night was a great example of winning the puck along the boards, then Zetterberg perfectly used body positioning to wheel away from the D-man and fed a perfect pass to Jason Williams who blasted a one-timer home.

Blackhawks beat the Oilers, 5-2: Its officially "tank" season for the Oilers. Chicago's good and did score some pretty pretty goals. Jonny Toews walked the Oilers D, Hossa fed a sweet pass over the Kane. Its all there in Chi-town.

Wild shut-out the Flames, 4-0: The Wild scored a beauty of a goal in this game. A great passing play from Miettinen to Koivu to Brunette. Kipper never even had his car.

Avalanche beat the Ducks, 4-3: Peter Mueller scored in his debut. That's nice.

Panthers beat the Flyers, 7-4
: David Booth got a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. He fought Richards. At first I was disappointed that Booth didn't remove his bucket, because he wears a visor. But then I remembered the whole concussion thing.

Capitals beat the Sabres, 3-1: Green's game winner was the result of a him picking his cut to the net perfectly and great selling of the "shot" by Tomas Fleishman.

Team USA 5, All of Canada 3

What can we say about last night's game that hasn't already been said? Probably nothing. Let's try to gather some of the 1,000 feelings and thoughts that we have after the game. Please fill in what we missed.

- We feel like that was the type of game that this US team was built for. It was amazingly gritty, fast paced and we relied heavily of Miller.

- Thank goodness that we scored 41 seconds in. Taking the crowd out of the game early - and then answering the Canadians quickly to make in 2-1 - was HUGE.

- Side note: Ovy crushing Jagr was beautiful.

- Chris Drury did his best Chris Drury impression. Sean Avery tweeted that he was "clutch" last night.

- Joe Thornton did his best Joe Thornton impression. Where the hell has he been?

- You have to wonder whether the US can survive another 45 shot game from a powerhouse. Also our unofficial count for blocked shots by the US was ~750.

- That second period scared the hell out of us. Mr. W said that it took longer than his girlfriend's period. Summed it up perfectly.

- Kesler's empty netter summed up the entire night for the US. I don't even know what to say about that play.

- Marty looked like he was trying to hard. We think a calm Luongo in net would have made a world of difference. But you can't fully blame the outcome on Marty.

- Why does Gary Bettman wear that tight-ass sweater that looks like he should be drinking hot totties and playing grab ass in a swingers chalet?

- Ryan Getzlaf must really hate the visor rule because he sports a 2-inch shield that is pushed up past his eyebrows.

- Did we see back-to-back-to back breakaways? Somewhere during that stretch we lost consciousness.

- After 45 shots is it asking too much that Miller hug the post better on Crosby's goal?

- The 2Man was together watching at the Village Tavern. After Kesler's ENG Scotty fell hard to the floor.

- Just in case you didn't see the pants we were rocking for the Games on our Twitter:

- We need Pat Kane to really get going next game.

- I can't believe that game was on MSNBC. What a joke.

- Ryan Callahan did a tremendous job killing penalties in limited minutes. I thought that was worth noting.

- We hate to temper our excitement but this game wasn't for a medal. The US gets an easier road going forward but there's still a long way to go to reach Gold.

- 1000%

- This is how you need to watch next week's day games.

- USA!!!!!!!!!!!! USA!!!!!!!!!!!! USA!!!!!!!!!!!

What you missed last night while you were voting in any of the governor or mayor elections around the country

Lightning beat the Maple Leafs in OT, 2-1: Phil Kessel, whatever. He was impressive last night because he took a lot of shots? Alright Toronto media, I guess this is the honeymoon period. The vegas line for games until the Toronto media rips him for not scoring is 4.5. I'm taking the under. "The Monster" - I don't even care about remembering the Maple Leafs goalie's name - had a good game. The one goal he gave up was the result of 2 mistakes: First, he played the puck right to Matias Ohlund. Ohlund then ripped a low hard shot on net, that rebounded perfectly to Vinny Lecavalier. Whoever was doing color commented that Euro goalies have trouble playing the puck in smaller NHL rinks, but also, rebound angles are different as well. With Vinny's slow start, I'm surprised he hasn't fought more.

Thrashers beat the Canadiens, 5-4: If I was clever, this entire recap would be in French. I don't understand, was this game not broadcast in English anywhere? I think the next time this happens, I'm going to open a nice bottle of red and really explore the French space. This also makes me realize how important the play-by-play guy is.

Canucks win over the Rangers, 4-1
: The line of Mason Raymond-Ryan Kesler-Rick Rypien might be the fast in the NHL. Also they need a nickname. I'm going with "The Law Firm." Think about it: "Raymond-Kesler-Rypien and Associates will represent you!" I'm sold.

Red Wings shut-out the Bruins, 2-0
: Was this shut-out a result of a) Osgood turning the corner or b) the piss-poor Bruins offense? I'm going to say B with a little A sprinkled in. Osgood made some good saves and even 1 or 2 great ones, but the Bruins miss Sarvard and no one else is really stepping up consistently for their scoring.

Penguins beat the Ducks, 4-3
: I think the Ducks have to make a decision with their goaltending. Pick a starter already and trade the other one. Nashville, Toronto, Florida (maybe), and Detroit (eventually) are probably looking for tenders.
