Who do you call at that point...has to be Gretz
How ridiculous does Bridget Moynihan look here. Tha might be the sexiest photo I have ever seen. Always liked Brady's pick there.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93bpmaBmYPg&p=AEB1C2D63CFC884A&playnext=1&index=51
sorry couldn't get the embedding with my browser but watch sneaky pavel with some behind the backness, gettin the joints loosy-goosy.
So last night I saw Ovy do such a sneaky thing, that I never thought about. In the NHL as in men's league for all us idiots you can't make a change when you ice the puck. I like this rule because it forces teams to deal with a break-out or gives the other team a chance to capitalize on a tired line in their zone. Ovy stayed out for an entire powerplay last night and should have gotten off with 10 seconds left in it when they broke it out, however he did not and they got caught in their zone. They could not get it out so Ovy iced it because he was dead tired. Now in men's league when this happens, I am like shit I am so tired and now I have to deal with clearing it or breaking it out and I am so tired. Ovy used his brain and realized, hey we need some more rest so they won the next draw and Ovy iced it again to give him and the boys a bit more time to re-group. They wound up taking a penalty anyway but a smart heads up (capacity utilization move) by OV to by some rest time. Really thinking outside the box.
Artem he does look like a Russian Mig fighter jet pilot out there from Top Gun.
There was a back to back Kyle Brodziak goal situation in the Minnesota game and the San Jose box score had a back to back Joey Pavelski assists from Heater and Marlenis.
Dany Sedin keeps throwin ppg's into the kitty and Kelsey Grammar's new girlfriend already mis-carried on a child. I love that man.
Sean Bergenheim had a breakaway goal and Dp played it perfectly and than had a short-handed situation against DP that DP said no to thank god. That would be the last thing we need is a win streak stopped because Doug Weight keeps getting roasted on the powerplay blue-line and a guy that never did anything for us comes out and scores a shorthanded game winner in our eye.
If any of you have not heard about or seen the Isles finish last night in overtime. Matty Mouls-juice is just being Matty Mouls. He may have 37 goals this year. Yes I have Gloria Estefan on while I write so hold on.
The isles are......well.....ok....but please this Doug Weight thing at the point...I get it but he is just too slow to catch people that break the other way. Remember when DP bailed out Dougy when he pulled Gaborik down and gave him a penalty shot. Dp bailed him out once at least with Bergenheim last night. I mean come on now. I love Dougy but we need at least another speedy D man that can cover when this happens.
Matt Cullen is a mule deer right now. An absolute minotaur. Well maybe he's not Arnold of the NHL right now, that may go to Hossa or the Kid or Stamkos but Cullen may finally have a break out season with all those sneaky guys in Minnesota.
We added hits to our fantasy leagues this year. Really puts much more emphasis on players that previously had been discarded in the trash can or places more emphasis on bruisers like Downie and Morrow. OVY is almost unfair in a league with hits because he gets 200 hits on top of everything else he does. I thought he was going to score 20 game winners at one point this season but Boston put him and the Caps in their place. BErgeron missed an empty net short handed goal in the first game for me. Come on dude. I needed that one.
Which brings me to my final point. The Isles goal in overtime went to video review. The longest review ever. If you saw the goal...it trickled off Ellis's back and he swung his glove around and caught the puck shoving it out of the net. It never actually hit the ground but it crossed the goal line plane in mid-air. I think they were consulting the hockey grail as to whether or not this counts as crossing the line. Who should they call in the event that someone had to make that precedent right than if there wasn't one. Does it have to hit the floor or can it just cross the plane in air without touching net and be pulled out? You woudl have to theoretically call Gretz no? He would have to stamp it as the supreme court justice of the land. Right? Maybe a panel of Gretz, Mess and Yzerman with Roenick cooking food in the background adding a little say.
Stay long Clark MacT and give him a chance to fully squeeze out all short positions against him this season. Stevey Sulls was interesting but I just can't tell. I'm long a little Tommy Kopecky playing with Fuegas Hossa right now. Buy the Kesler dip and pile into the Dallas Stars this season...everyone from Lehtonen to Jamie Benn. I have Steve Downie in all three of my leagues. He is going to just add so much value to your squad this season playing with Stamkos and collecting pims like crazy. He will re-define the word Arabian for me this year.
Remember the end goal of life is to sell someone this hard at least one point.Thats enough for now.

Weekend Warrior
wow what a photo of Nem there huh?A splendid affair which featured the best Clark Kent rendition by Mac. Camille had quite a strong impression on his person as well. Together they operated machinery that had not been in use in quite some time.

Yes Dance got hitched Friday and it was a glorious affair overlooking Lady Liberty Harbor in New York. I sang Lazy Mary by Lou Monte in token to my friendship. I said Yes. Just say Yes!
The wedding night saw many old friendships come back together. Many gestures came out that we hold so high here at the 2man heart. Why just yesterday, James Wisniewski new member to the Islander D-core exemplified to Sean Avery some remnants from the Wedding. Perhaps our best group rendition of the photo at the Piers displaying the Rangers in 94 after they won their last stanley cup. Notice how I use the word Last!
Then there is Brian Kinahan doing his best impression of everything in this photo.
What about me snaking Brad Boyes in the 15th plus round of every single draft I had this year. Come on dude. Buying on a pullback year. The man will have a 30 and 30 at the worst. My weekend continued the following night at another great friends wedding out on Long Island whose highlights included my Pops in a fire red tie, Sternberg head butting me after many drinks and the calming presence of Geno Malkin on a powerplay in mid-February. My neck and knees are sooo soar from dancing that I am just sitting out of life this week. I am on the verge of either leaving my job or getting fired and I figure thats fine because as Nemy always said the Josef Vasicek show we did is pulling in a ton of royalities from the networks so I got that going for me.
I met up with Leonard the Cat recently and he tried to make me remember to look at bright side of everything. He wasn't always a billionaire. He didn't always have the largest emerald mine in the world or the largest collection of subterranean bug faces but what he did always have was his integrity, beliefs and good nature.
He and Camille recently ventured to the Falkland Islands to one of Leonards many summer retreats to discuss business ethics and the crisis in the Middle East. They bought the only liquor store on the main island and locked themselves in the house for a week. It ended with a Matt Moulson hat-trick, a goal, assist and a snot rocket before Camille boarded his space ship and headed for the hedge. This Saturday the 2man crew will head to the Coliseum for a cancer night against the powerful Avalanche army. We go in rememberance of a fallen comrade. A great man whose spirit is strong and steady in the after life. A man who would always cheer me up after a college game that I felt I hadn't played well in. He would always help me get over it with a smile or a laugh. Well this Saturday we shall pour some out for him and maybe eat one too many brownies in honor of him. When I think of the Islander team in my lifetime I think of a few select memories. Pat Lafontaine, Trottier, Nystrom, Tambellini, Bruno, Dan Bressler and his old school mesh jerz, my grandma bathing me in her sink during games when I was a pup so I could see the tv and Al Bressler with his jolly old smile and good nature. Travis Green is in there too with maybe Mic Vukota or Rich Pilon...weird.
Well until next time...fight the trend and FUCK the haters!

NHL 11

Kamis, 29 April 2010
What you missed last night because you were a Caps fan who couldn't stand to watch
Second round starts up tonight. Here are my picks:
Wings over Sharks in 7
Hawks over Canucks in 6
Pens over Canadiens in 6
Bruins over Flyers in 7
Kamis, 22 April 2010
What you missed last night while you were figuring out why NHL players can't count
Bruins beat the Sabres in double OT, 3-2 (BOS leads series 3-1): There was1 too many men on the ice penaltyin this game and it led to the GWG.
Capitals beat the Canadiens, 5-3 (WAS leads series, 3-1): The Ovechkin killer wrister is back
Saves of the night:

Weekend Wrap Up OR What I missed because the power went out
Owen Nolan - Love that he's still playing and fighting
Rick Rypien is fearless!
Not a great fight, but I love when the players take off their buckets
This counts a "loss" for Boogaard, right?
I'll briefly talk about the Ovechkin hit: You can't hit a guy in the numbers. If you see numbers it means that the player has beat you. Let it go. The only reason that the call (5 min and a game) is up for discussion is because the refs don't call it consistently enough. You want players to let up on those dangerous hits - then the refs need to make consistent calls. I don't know if Ovy should get suspended, but the right call on the ice was made. Shut up, Mike Milbury.
Heres a great pass from Ovy, from Friday versus the Lightning:
Pat Eaves has dangerous speed and Ryan Miller should really stop even thinking about using a poke check:
Formula for a great save = highway robbery + late in game x team has lead... as done by Halak
It was Ottawa's only goal, but boy was it pretty. Vintage Jason Spezza:
Steve Mason has a slow glove hand, apparently:
Heres a nice passing play from the Isles, to put away the Leafs last night:
What did I miss?

Weekend Wrap Up OR The only cure to a hangover is to sweat it out at the gym
His best goal though was the one-time on friday night:
To recap - he went to the bathroom, got a new stick and then walked into a pass set on a plate for him. That goal shouldn't even count against Pavelec. It might as well have been an empty-netter because no one was stopping that.
It was also the weekend on grizzled vets scoring and fighting:
First it was Black:
And then it was The Cowboy:
They both had previously scored unspectacular goals.
Here's a spectacular goal from Phil Kessel. Lets bring that wrister to vancouver!
What did I miss?

What you missed last night while you were about to make an offer to the Thrashers
Speaking of Ovechkin:
Capitals beat the Rangers, 6-5:
Ovy's goal before
the 2nd was sick. One
handed: a thousand!
-paraphrased from nemmy's emails to me this morning
Canadiens beat the Bruins in the shoot-out, 3-2:
When is the last time
the Bruins won a game or
scored more than 2 goals?
Senators beat the Canucks, 3-1:
I wonder if the
winning streak has fixed the sales
problem in Ottawa.
Wild beat the Oilers, 4-2:
Guilliame Latandresse
scored a beaut and gave a sweet
feed to Havlat. Score.
BJs beat the Stars, 2-1:
Mason looked to be
in freshman form and RJ
got the empty net.
Kings beat the the Ducks, 6-4:
Kopitar's nail-in
-the-coffin goal showed off his
hands. Nice curl and tuck.
Lightning beat the Islanders, 5-2:
As a fan, should I
give up on the play-offs and
hope for a high pick?
Predators beat the Avalanche, 5-3:
I can't believe Steve
Sullivan is still in the
game and kind of good.
Sharks beat the Blues, 4-2:
The coach called Greiss, "a
copy machine." What the hell
does that even mean?

What you missed last night while you were trying to mediate the Jersey Shore-MTV salary negotiations
Stars beat the Flames in the shoot-out, 4-3: Iginla wanted to fight in the first period but Ott wouldn't oblige. Later Nystrom somehow picked a fight with Frist. And then the Flames lost again.
Lightning shut-out the Canadiens, 3-0: How did all of Victor Hedman's equipment come off?
Hurricanes beat the Rangers, 5-1: Good news for the Rangers, they scored! Bad news for the Rangers, Lundqvist is looking terrible.
Capitals beat the Ducks, 5-1: The Caps offense was flying the entire game, so Giggy actually played well for 2 periods. There were so many good goals: Ovy walking around Niedermayer, Backstrom's sick pass and then shot from Semin on the last goal.
Wild beat the Red Wings, 5-2: There were 3 goals in like 2 minutes in the 2nd period. Osgood was not looking too good last night either. Does Annti Mietinnen have a brother named Prroe?
Sabres beat the Devils in the shoot-out, 2-1: I like how in the shoot-out Americans went against Miller. However, Parise and Langenbrunner were stopped by their February teammate.

What you missed last night while watching, hopefully, the final episode ever of the jersey shore
Blackhawks beat the Flames, 3-1:
Only Kipper seems
to want to win. The rest of
the Flames just plain sucked.
Lightning beat the Leafs in OT, 3-2:
Matt Walker had to
fight twice in the first. He knocked
out Rosehill, tied Orr.
Canucks beat the Stars, 4-3:
Alex Auld tried to
toe-drag Burrows and failed. Is
Turco teaching him?
Senators beat the Blues, 3-2:
The Senators are
the hottest team right now. What if
they had goaltending?
Capitals beat the Penguins, 6-3:
Ovy scores, Sid scores
whatever. This game sucked
I will care in May
Kings beat the Sabres in the shoot-out, 4-3:
All the Sabres must
hate going back home after
being in SoCal.
Sharks beat the Ducks, 3-1:
Now the Sharks have a
three game winning streak, where they've
outscored others a lot.
Coyotes beat the Predators, 4-2:
Both teams have heads
as logos. Only one team
has Upshall with 3.
Red Wings beat the Wild in the shoot-out, 4-3:
Datsyuk's breakaway
pass to Big Bert was perfect.
Backhand, weighted. Yes!
Hurricanes win over the Thrashers, 5-3:
The C does not weigh
Stall down. A trick and a win
for his first game. Nice!
Islanders beat the Panthers in the shoot-out, 2-1:
Best shift of the night
led to the Isles goal. Hit,
cycle, pass, shoot, score!
BJs beat the Bruins, 3-2:
Lucic was back, but
cost his team with a late high
stick. Tough loss, Bruins.
Flyers shut-out the Rangers, 2-0:
Hey Torts, Gabby dropped
his gloves first, so just shut up
about honor, dick.

3-day Weekend Wrap Up OR Is Winter over? What the hell is up with this weather
Rick Dipietro is back for the Islanders. He won Saturday and shut the Devils out on Monday. Thats the first time the Devils have been shut-out all season. Of the 6 goals the Isles scored this weekend. This was my favorite:
Speaking of slap-passes, Daniel Alfredsson had a hat-trick against the Bruins. Here's, obviously, my favorite:
Ok, its a slap-pass at all, just a great look from Kuba and tip by Alfie.
If you watched NBC's first non-winter-classic game of the season, you know they still have some kinks to work out:
What the hell?
but, if you stuck around you also got to see this sweetness in the shoot-out:
and there was also a pretty good fight:

What you missed last night while you were making sure all your relatives in Haiti were safe
Predators beat the Oilers, 5-3: All the Oilers have to do for the rest of the season is get rid of cap hits (Souray) and decide whether to draft, Hall, Seguin, or Fowler. (When in doubt take the western canadien kid).
Thrashers beat the Senators, 6-1: Somehow, Ottawa is still in play-off contention. The only game I remember them winning is when Kovalev had 4 goals.
Sharks beat the Coyotes, 3-1: Marleau is stil the man in San Jose.
Islanders shut-out the Red Wings, 6-0: As an Islanders fan, that was fun to watch.
Devils shut-out and beat the Rangers in the shoot-out, 2-1: A lot of olympians were involved in this game. And then there was the shoot-out - just like the olympics! None of the Americans could score on the Swede, but the Czech did.
Lightning roll over the Capitals, 7-4: Downie and Ovechkin wanted to fight. Both took off there helmets because they wear half-shields and then Matt Bradley came in and ruined everything. I get it, you don't want your best scorer hurting his hands, but come on, he's the captain. Let him fight.
Flyers beat the Stars, 6-3: Turco sucks.
Blues beat the BJs, 4-1: Good game, good fights.
Jumat, 08 Januari 2010
What you missed last night while kicking short or line drives
Alex Burrows will
be the first star of the week
You heard it here first.
Canadiens shut-out the Panthers, 2-0:
Who is the number
one tender in Montreal?
Trade the other one.
Capitals beat the Senators, 5-2:
Ovechkin scored his
first goal as captain. It was
a sweet backhand play.
BJs beat the Oilers, 4-2:
When 2 slumping teams
play, one gets out of said slump.
Steve Mason still sucks.
Blackhawks beat the Bruins, 5-2:
Of all the fire
power on the hawks, it was
Keith who scored nice. twice.
Flyers beat the Penguins, 7-4:
The Flyers should
have had 8, but 7 was
enough for the win.
Wings beat the Kings, 2-1:
Howard's shut-out was
lost on a fluky bounce,
but Helm won it late
Predators beat the Hurricanes, 4-2:
The Canes should blow up
their team like the Flyers
did a few years back.
Thrashers beat the Rangers in the shoot-out, 2-1:
Rich Peverly got
robbed twice during the game
by not Lunqvist. Who?
Ducks beat the Blues, 4-2:
Nemmy texted me,
"Backes is ready." I love
him fighting Northers.
Kamis, 24 Desember 2009
What you missed last night while you were finally finishing your crhistmas shopping
Penguins roll over the Senators, 8-2:
Lost in this blow out,
are Fleury's 45 saves.
And Alfie got hurt.
Blues beat the Flames in the shoot-out, 2-1:
On one play, Langkow
laid out Paul Kariya. The
Blues swept all the west.
Canadiens beat the Hurricanes, 5-1:
So, are all games that
the Canadiens play in
the southeast in French?
Islanders beat the Maple Leafs, 3-1:
Blake Comeau played great
He could be this teams, Selke
candidate. John scored!
Wild beat the Oilers, 3-1:
I think that Owen
Nolan should only be known
as Cowboy. He scored.
Flyers beat the Lightning, 5-2:
I hope the Flyers
improve after Christmas
for the Classic.
Blackhawks shut-out the Red Wings, 3-0:
They're not booing you
Hossa, they're say, "yoooooooou sucked
in the play-offs, jerk."
Coyotes shut-out the Ducks, 4-0:
If a team wins in
the desert and no one is
there, does it matter?
Stars beat the BJs, 3-1:
Fire Hitch? Trade who? What
are the Jackets going to
do to stop this slide?
Bruins beat the Thrashers. 6-4:
Boston looks like a
team hitting their groove. Kessel
who? exactly, right.
Rangers beat the Panthers, 4-1:
I was supposed to
go to this game, but glad I
did not. Gabby scored!
Capitals win over the Sabres, 5-2:
Ovechkin scored his
24th goal in his game
29. Dream's alive.

Weekend Wrap Up OR If you have to wake up in the middle of the night to poop, that can't be good
On Saturday night this hit happened:
Its a clean hit. A really really good, clean hit.
Ovechkin had 2 goals saturday night. This one is silly.
He had zero angle on that rebound and took a freaking slap shot!
This is a power move. Its from last nights Blues/Canucks game
What did I miss?
-Bress

What you missed last night because there was seeing eye dog at the gym
Blues beat the Flames, 4-3: The game winner from TJ Oshie was a sweet cross-bar and in wrist shot. The pass from Kariya to Oshie was even better. It was through sticks and legs and past another Blue's teammate. Sick vision from Paul.
Kings beat the Oilers, 3-2: I like everything about the Kings except their jerseys. Go back to the early 90s style. Thats it. Or go way back to the original Luc style. Don't half-ass it with some purple or make the third-jerseys all black. John Quicks helmet is sweet though.
Penguins beat the Flyers, 6-1: Have 2 coaches ever been replaced by the same team in the same season? How long can the Flyers wait before they can Laviollette? Or are they going to blow up the team like they did a few years back? Ok, ok I went a little too far there. Seriously though, the Flyers are mostly terrible the past month. Maybe they'll make a huge trade before the christmas break.
Capitals win over the Avalanche, 6-1: How can the Caps score 6 and Ovy not have 1? That just pisses me off.
Predators beat the Lightning, 7-4: Was this game televised?
Wild beat the BJs, 2-1: see above
Selasa, 08 Desember 2009
What you missed last night when you were attacked by a rabid racoon in central park
Canadiens beat the Flyers, 3-1: Braydon Coburn made a very unorthodox play on a 2-on-1 that led to the eventual game winner. As Maxim Lapierre was skating down the right wing with the puck, Coburn dove at him at the top of the circle. Lapierre simply, toe dragged around the flying d-man and then fed a pass to Cammalleri who easily scored. Usually the d-man dive might occur lower in the zone, when the forward with the puck has run out of space, but Coburn decided to try something new for his new coach and it failed, spectacurlarly.
Oilers beat the Panthers in the shoot-out, 3-2: As I watched this game, I saw all the empty seats in Florida and really tried to think about how you would sell this game (this particular game) to Floridians. Do they even know where Edmonton is? Is there even anyone on the Oilers you could sell this game around?
Kings beat the Flames, 2-1: Jonathon Quick made some stellar saves and the Kings won an old-school game last night. Scott Parse (who?) scored a high-light reel goal on Kipper when he cut in from the left and some how found the space to tuck a backhand in on the far side.
Maple Leafs beat the Thrashers, 5-2: I have no idea if the Leafs are good now or improving or if Toskala just got repeatedly lucky.
Coyotes shut-out the Wild, 2-0: Something about watching Coyotes home games is depressing. I think its the bad lighting in their arena.
Avalanche shut-out the Blues, 4-0: Peter Budaj is a great backup, but seemingly cannot play more than 3 games in a row.
Capitals shut-out the Lightning, 3-0: Ovy's back and scores 2. Thanks for the rest, NHL. Is he still on pace for 50 in 50?
Hurricanes beat the Penguins, 3-2: Why wasn't Tim Gleason ready for the fight will Bill Guerin? They were lined up next to each other and off the draw Billy drops the mitts, but Gleason plays the puck and its embarrassing and then Billy kind of got beat up a bit.

As if playing goalie for the Panthers isn't bad enough
Poor Keith Ballard.
Mike Rupp had a hat trick as the Pens dance all over Lundquist's corpse.
Ovy is injured and could sit for a few games due to suspension.
He should have sat for this one.
Savvy - signed, sealed, delivered? TSN is reporting 7-years at $4.2MM per. Value!
Kiprusoff, Miller, and Anderson post shutouts.

Vociferous on a Wednesday
This is Nest the day before he left on his South American vacation. He is attending a place near Antarctica so he came over to borrow some of my skii wear. Ess looks like a Japanese ninja...all you see is his eyes...its like the Geico dollar stack went ninja on us!

Here is an awesome glossy finished hockey card of the power I, Miguel Richards in shorthanded goal format written on the top. Sick! Nemy got this in a pack of Opee-chee hockey cards he bought wasted with me at Models on Saturday. Bruno and Arnott were also in that deck. Juice!

A summation of great celebrations
When and if it gets cold enough people!
