Canucks beat the Blues, 3-2: The Canucks start a thousand game road trip because of the Olympics soon. They are playing extremely well right now. The Canucks showed some depth, that Kesler and Raymond scored.
Stars beat the Flames in the shoot-out, 4-3: Iginla wanted to fight in the first period but Ott wouldn't oblige. Later Nystrom somehow picked a fight with Frist. And then the Flames lost again.
Lightning shut-out the Canadiens, 3-0: How did all of Victor Hedman's equipment come off?
Hurricanes beat the Rangers, 5-1: Good news for the Rangers, they scored! Bad news for the Rangers, Lundqvist is looking terrible.
Capitals beat the Ducks, 5-1: The Caps offense was flying the entire game, so Giggy actually played well for 2 periods. There were so many good goals: Ovy walking around Niedermayer, Backstrom's sick pass and then shot from Semin on the last goal.
Wild beat the Red Wings, 5-2: There were 3 goals in like 2 minutes in the 2nd period. Osgood was not looking too good last night either. Does Annti Mietinnen have a brother named Prroe?
Sabres beat the Devils in the shoot-out, 2-1: I like how in the shoot-out Americans went against Miller. However, Parise and Langenbrunner were stopped by their February teammate.

What you missed last night because you were still at work (only valid for west coasters)
Hurricanes comeback and beat the Devils, 4-3 (CAR wins series 4-3): Both the first goal of the game and the final goal were eerily similar. Maybe both times Brodeur got screened by his defenseman, maybe the shots got slightly deflected. In any case you expect the all-time wins leader to make at least one of those saves. This great game did not get as much attention as the other game7, but there were some terrific passes:
- Parise's look to Langenbruner for the Devils first goal
- Gionta's wrist shot of a pass cross ice and off the board for Rolston to one-time for the Devils third goal
-The pass to Pandolfo, who perfectly deflected it on his backhand for the Devils second goal
- Joni Pitkanen's cross zone pass to Jussi Jokinen for the one-timer to tie the game up.
Carolina has a lot to handle in a well-rested Bruins team in round 2. I'll get to my predictions and the leaders of the2Man play-off game later today.
Capitals beat the Rangers, 2-1 (WAS wins series 4-3): With that game-winning goal, Sergei Federov will recieve an honory PhD from Snipe City U. It don't know if its more or less impressive that he didn't really look up when he shot. Did he just know where he was on the ice and no the spot to put the puck?
Caps and Penguins in round 2, expect these games on NBC.

It's Thursday and that Grappa from last nite is coarsing thru me
So last night I went to Valentines dinner with my girlfriend because she is leaving NYC for a few weeks and we wanted to get some and so we did. Before retiring to the bedroom to talk things over we watched the conclusion of the Rangers Caps game. When Ovy went, she shouted, "Hey it's Ovalchuk!" One of the cutest things she's done. What's amazing is that I explain it to her that she has combined two Russian superstars being obviously Ovy and Kovy. I tell her, "Don't change it...ever!" One of those small good things...you know?

The two together is simply this animal of the deep.
So Paddock is blaming Murray for the Senators woes? Why? The team is having an off year, it happens. Look at the New York Islanders. You'll work it out in time. Stop pointing fingers, it helps NOBODY!!!!! The two of them should sit down with a tall glass of Jamison with a lot of ice and simply see what the two minds, (not arguing and blaming) can come up with.
How about Zach Parise, Zajac and Langenbrunner. They are Carter Beauford right now simply put. If the Devils can snag a puck-moving, powerplay point type defenseman...things get interesting over there. That team is Real Good.
They have two (A) scoring lines. A bunch of healthy lower line depth with plenty of scrappers, not to mention Marty coming back soon.
This was interesting the other day. Aside from the Dry Bulk Index (BDI) being up consistently until today for a good long while I had a moment on the subway the other day. This chubby old guy was on the platform at 34th street waiting for the train to stop. Now this cracked out (not a bum) but way messed up dude shows up on the watch the gap yellow caution line as the cubby guy shows up so they bump each other slightly. Almost as if the crazy guy wanted it to happen so he could start some shit. We get on the train and this crazy guy wouldn't let it go. He was like, "Yo don't be doin that shit to ME!" He even walked over to the guy who has his head down doing the right thing by ignoring him and pokes his glasses, like he actually touched him and the chubby guy doesn't even flinch. The crazy guy moves a few feet away and continues muttering to the guy much like I do after a bad trade or a bad men's league game. Now here's the rub...the crazy guy is out of line, clearly, it's just unecessary what he is doing and I am standing in the middle of them by one of the subway doors. What the crazy guy doesn't realize is that I JUST lost 12,000 dollars on a trade not but a few hours ago and I am piping with rage. PIPING! Like sweet saliccia right out of the ovem over a bed of rigatz. This is who is on the downtown B train. So I'm a Lebowski, you're a Lebowski when does it end..uhh don't make a maniac out of me. In other news, the education companies finally kicked the bucket today on inline earnings from Strayer and a lower forecast from New Oriental Education. Yea..you couldn't see that coming. Steve Ott raised guidance and sees a promising outlook, and Antero Nittymaki has locked in the job in philly right now as fantasy owners sold the news in classic form as the tech heavy Nasi gave back 4%. Stop me at any point when you just can't see it anymore. Dan Lacosta? What? I just...can't.
The other night I woke Amber up in the middle of the night because of the dream I had. Back in college, in the locker room before we headed onto the ice Nemy would always be at the door with our goalie and without missing this one time all season, he would scream, "Where's Scotty?" I would hustle up to the door, than and only than would we head out to play. I woke up screaming, "I'm here!" The good ole days. Chicken quesadilla from Cosmic Cantina with Mase. Has anyone tried to drink a white russian every time Lebowski does and do the other thing when he does as well? What a game to play, what a night it was.

What you misses last night because you were in Brooklyn... weird brooklyn
There were a ton of games last night and I was in Brooklyn "experiencing" Winter in Alaska - ok it was pretty fucking cool, but I did miss a lot of hockey. Again, I am thankful to my DVR and NHL on the Fly: Final.
Canucks finally win, beat the Hurricanes, 4-3: Mats Sundin actually participated in a positive manner with a wrap around goal, but it was Alex Burrows late third period shorthanded top shelf backhand game winner that got the W.
Canadiens beat the Penguins, 4-2: My favorite goal was Chris Higgins super fast shorthanded breakaway snap shot snipe.
Kings shut-out the Senators, 1-0: I imagine the suicide rate in Ottawa went up after this one.
Hawks beat the Oilers, 3-1: Do any goalies have black pads? I thin Huet, who was outstanding last night, would look more badass with black instead of red.
Stars win over the Flames, 3-1: The Avery addition by subtraction rule!
Panthers beat the Maple Leafs in OT, 4-3: Would the Leafs be a better team with a better goalie? It always appers like shots are just squeezing through Toskala - just like McCabe's OT blast. I predict they will overpay for a keeper this summer.
Thrashers beat the Rangers in the shoot-out 2-1: Things I didn't expect to see last night: The Sopranos cast at Grave's number retirement and Ilya Kovulchuk miss an open net.
Predators beat the Coyotes, 2-1: The Predators sneaky keep winning and might turn a profit this year. Wow!
Capitals win over the Devils, 5-2: Caps goal of the night: Mike Greens power play snipe - just a sick pass (from Semin), handle and shot. Devils goal of the night: Langenbruner's short handed breakaway - read Theodore's poke check and roofed the puck early.
Islanders beat the Lightning, 3-1: Vinny had a goal and a fight. Vinny being Vinny
Blues beat the Blue Jackets, 4-2: Rick Nash has sneaky speed.

Langenbrunner and everything after
So the week ended. The weekend started at the Tavern with Bress, Nemy and Arzellius. Throwin' back a couple of buds. Mellow yellow. Nemy has to leave early to head up to Boston tomorrow for the game with his girl. Trying to pull the early night sober how are ya. Ok! Fine! How about no Check! No! Penguins take a 3-1 lead over the Devils with about 10 to go in the third. Malkin scores a softy and I still say the Devils are SICK! Marty comes back...nuff said! I know they are going to steal this game like they did to Boston last night. I say with 30 seconds left on the clock, if the Devils tie this game, 15 shots of Jager for me, you and Ess. Nemy sneaky wants it to happen. I just know it will, they had the pressure on since the end of the first. Langenbrunner. Jeez! 15 shots! 1000 and 10,000. Cool Whhhhhhhhiiiiiip like Stewie Griffin says it with the silent H. Than he scores in OT again. He is Captain insaneous. Boston and Jers....eastern finals. Juice guys from Nantucket.
Remember coming back to beat Bryant down 6-3 with 8 to go left in the third. I do. Weindel penalty shot...ardino in OT.
Best college hockey memory - We're playing Holy Cross and some guy torched me because I thought he didn't have that shot in his bag...no respect and I got baked. They scored and the next shift...my fault completely...take the puck in the offensive zone and score. Camille comes over to me on the bench screaming...way to be a man Scotty! Way to be a man! Own up!
It's big time hockey in Jers right now....step out of the way people. Paris, Zajac...imagine my kids name..Zajac Zimmerman...lol! Elias, Gionta n Shany now. Shany is the man. Thats it...enjoy the night people...be safe!
